TuneTown enters blogosphere!

We sing. We dance. And, now we blog. What a way to begin the New Year!

At rehearsals, new gals have been braving the cold to come to the Guest Nights we’re holding every Monday in January. OK, so our low of 17 degrees the other night might not impress a lot of our sisters to the North, but it’s hard on us warmer climate flowers.

Change has been in the air for awhile. The accomplished Rick Spencer, a barbershop judge and arranger, has joined us as our interim director. Our former director Dusty Schleier decided this winter that he will be directing one chorus for the time being – the men’s Music City Chorus. Among Rick’s many barbershop activities, he is a member of that chorus, too.

In our community outreach, we have branched out to bring in school supplies for kids living in poverty. With all that our members who are public school teachers do, including helping clothe homeless students, we wanted to show our support and have donated thousands of items, from pencils, markers and paper to coats and gloves.

That’s about it… Oh yeah, the next thing on our schedule is a coaching session with the fabulous Kim Vaughn! We can’t wait!

Happy New Year from Capital City Chorus

IMG_0312Dusting off the cobwebs has never been so much fun! After a well-deserved holiday break, the Capital City Chorus sisters are back hard at work and preparing for Region 4 contest in April. It’s been a IMG_0307few years since CCC has competed on the regional level, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to present our new director, Stacey St. John, and our brand new musical package, certain to bring delight to the audience and “ring” the house down!

IMG_0306But that’s not all CCC is excited about, as we also have several new prospective members working towards auditioning,  have just produced a fabulous new magazine celebrating Capital City’s 60th anniversary, and have dozens of ladies gearing up FullSizeRenderfor a wonderful Valentine’s Day weekend of Singing Valentines! Life is moving at the “speed of sound” here in Indianapolis, and we in Capital City are loving every minute of it. We wish you all a Happy New Year, and we look forward to seeing you in April!
